It is true that dog is mans best friend, but some dogs are friendlier than others. There are some dog breads that are so unfriendly that they can keep you from getting homeowners insurance. In many cases it’s the owners who are more responsible for a dog’s behavior than the dog, but unfortunately insurance companies just don’t want to take that chance. Here are some dog breads that your insurance company may have a problem with.
The Siberian Huskey. A beautiful dog bread that most people consider friendly and docile. Huskies have been known to attack people on occasion and are considered an aggressive bread
Alaskan Malamutes. These dogs are often mistaken for the Huskey but are in fact a larger bread. Because of their size, and the fact that they can be predatory with smaller pets, they are not on the friendlier dog list.
Chow Chow. Originated in China and known for its flat face and purple tongue. They were bred to hunt and serve as guard dogs and those traits may contribute to some of their reputation of being difficult to handle and temperamental.
Doberman Pinchers have long had a reputation for being aggressive and vicious. Often used as guard dogs they have been bred to protect and defend. As with most dogs, it is the owner who can control his dog’s behavior.
Great Danes are rated ninth on the list of most dangerous dogs. They are one of the largest breeds of dogs ever domesticated. Because of there size and the fact that they were originally bred for hunting animals, they are always a threat, especially to children.
It should be no surprise that a wolf-dog hybrid is considered a dangerous dog. Wolves are one of the most dangerous predators in the wild and cross breeding them with a dog just doesn’t take all that wild out of them. If you must have one, handle with care.
